INTRODUCTION
History is not a divine force set in stone; it is the servant of those who make it. This liberating idea makes room for us to dream once again. Stale methods and ideologies have always given way to the dreamers of their day.
In 1963, Martin Luther King delivered a speech that reverberated around the world. The “I Have a Dream” speech has been a catalyst that has helped bring King’s dream to the borders of reality. His premature and untimely death could not persuade the dream to die, for it was too late. The dream had already taken on a life of its own.
The dream of this man had gathered the support of many who were like-minded. The dream became their rally cry. Today, we see how far this dream has come. Although some would contend the content of King’s dream is far from realized, no one can dispute the great strides that have been made towards its fulfillment.
The annals of history reveal a world that has been shaped and forged by the dreamers of that day. The few who dare to dream in spite of the critic’s tongue are the ones who shape their generation.
Henry Ford, Benjamin Franklin, Wilbur Wright, and Albert Einstein were dreamers. Most in their day scoffed at their ideas, failing to see—yet, the world today applauds their achievements and are thankful for their dreams.
